Central Adriatic Ports Authority is LEAD PARTNER of the WATERBRIDGING project, “Sustainable and Seamless Waterways Bridging Adriatic-Ionian region”, financed under the IPA ADRION 2020-2027 programme and aiming to boost the sustainability and the seamless integration of the maritime and inland waterways that connect the Adriatic-Ionian region, to enhance the Motorways of the Sea as an efficient and smart alternative to land transport.
The project intends to face common challenges such as the disruption of the logistics transport chain and the limited application of environmental approaches by developing pilot actions, technical studies and project designs, on two pillars:
- deployment of digital services for a seamless and integrated Adriatic-Ionian Smart Motorways of the Sea and Inland waterway system,
- deployment of sustainable practices for the decarbonization of maritime and inland waterway traffic flows
WATERBRIDGING project will support the Adriatic-Ionian maritime and inland waterways system to target the objectives of the European Green Deal and of the FIT for 55 legislative package of reducing the environmental impact of the transport sector and improving its efficiency.

Total duration of the project is 36 months, from 1st September 2024 to 31st August 2027, and its total budget is 1.390.320,00.
The budget of ADSPMAC is 296.225,00 € (85% ERDF and 15% national cofinancing).
